There's an old expression, "Pubs not clubs." If you're a fan of that expression, you'll love Patrick's Pub. Old and young, short and tall, whatever your preference, Patrick's is the laid back place you can go into alone or in a group, sit by yourself and contemplate the world's issues, or chat it up with the bartenders or locals to get other's opinions and views. Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest and if you're not their early enough, parking may be an issue. Patrick's shares a parking lot with the motel it's attached to and sometimes it can get quite crowded. In the pub not club theme, there's a jukebox, pool tables, shuffleboard, darts, etc to keep you busy if you're not into people watching and sipping on your cocktail. No dance floor so if you're looking for that, continue on down to NB. Friendly, attentive bartenders and staff. Keep your Ps and Qs and you'll have a great time. Definitely worth your time if you're in the area and are in need of a refreshment. Enjoy!

I went here on an event less Sunday night so the place was pretty empty. Was looking to have a beer and play some darts with my boyfriend. They have a good selection of games including pool, foosball, darts and shuffleboard. It's a clean bar where a lot of the locals hang out. Had a fun night and would go back.

Yup, funky little place next to a Super 8, behind the Orange Curtain. I like it though, no one hassled me the few times I've been there alone. They have good, strong drinks and nightly specials. Good tunes on the jukebox and interesting people watching. I'll be back.

I love this bar. If ever I wanna just go catch a quick drink or hang out and have a few, Patricks is the place I go. Has 2 dart boards, foosball, shuffle board, pool tables and a great staff. Kat on the staff is awesome. Pretty cool chick. The whole staff is friendly. The place can be low key and not as crowded on the weekday but gets busier as the week goes. They play a variety of music but they also have a music box so you can pay to play songs of your choice.

Awesome bar has decently prices drinks a pool table, foosball, shuffle board, and darts! Their staff was nice and quick to get drinks ill definitely come back! Also you can park in the hotel lot if you can't find parking out front!

The local patrons were very rude and full of bigotry, the FIFA semi finals were on between USA and Germany and all they could do was talk bad about the Germans and the bartender allowed it to happen, I would definitely find another pub to have a drink when visiting Costa. Mesa unless you're a a bigot then you'll fit right in.

If you like dive bars, this is the go to spot in Costa Mesa. I have this and Triangle Square in walking distance from my apartment complex. Sometimes I'm in the mood to get a bit sexy, demure and country and hit up Saddle back. But often I wanna throw on my flip flops, jean shorts and Abercrombie and Fitch T-Shirt a hang with the locals! And this is the spot to do just that, you have a huge mix of people here that enjoy the scene for the games and casual nature. The bartenders are the best especially Michelle! And the juke box is off the rails especially when you have the app where you pick music from your barstool. I would recommend this bar to either a group that wants a laid back reasonably priced scene to congregate and ketchup. Or I often go solo and I can say, I never have problems meeting a friendly stranger or 6.

Best little hole in the wall this side of 19th street! Patricks is a like a trusty old dog. Always dependable to bring u some cheap drinks, competitive darts and good people. Walking distance from my house so its frequently my first, last or only stop of the night. $2 slap on cuzies, cant beat em! See u there...

Fun place to come to on St. Patty's Day. Biggest pain in the butt was the parking. Definitely not enough to sustain a full house so I gather a lot of people had to park across the street (hopefully legally). The mood was very festive and the bartenders were cool. They don't serve food but will let you order in pizza from several different joints nearby. Green beer was somewhat pricey for the little cup you get but, hey, if you can't make money off green beer on St. Patty's day, when can you?

This is probably the highest rating I've ever given a bar that doesn't have karaoke, but whenever I'm looking for a random not-too-gross dive bar, this is my spot. I've only been in here a handful of times and have had different bartenders, but all have been very friendly (especially the lady that works earlier, I don't recall her name) and funny. Just a chill spot to enjoy a cold drink and maybe play some shuffleboard (or darts, or pool.) What more do you need?

  • Kevin B.

Very disappointing establishment. No beer on tap, small TVs, and disrespecful staff as well as patrons. They don't even have a happy hour. I was also insulted by the bartender. Don't waste your time and money in a dump like this.

  • Lacey M.

I've been here countless times due to its proximity to my house and my school. I love the bartenders-they are all super friendly. It's by far the best dive-bar in the area!! Go get a drink!

Great new find in the OC! Reminds me a little bit of Yancy's Saloon in SF. Decent sized bar with pool tables, dart boards, and a shuffleboard table. Drinks are decently priced ~$6 beers. I was a little shocked that there wasn't anything on tap, which I thought was kinda lame... but the nice bartenders and games made up for it.

  • Sue B.

One of my favourite local bars. All the bartenders are great, and the owners are good people. Drinks are poured well and there is a no bull attitude. Made some good friends here.

Damn. Can't begin to guess how many years it has been since my last stop here. No reason to avoid, just not in my circle of influence. Was on the prowl with Robert and Mary and a change of place was in order. Our geographical bulls eye was within a couple miles of here and thought what the hell. Friday night 7ish and it was fairly dead save for a few old beer swilling gents. But for Harbor Blvd a very "normal" clientele. No drug deals/druggie types, with very clean restrooms and a tidy bar as well. Very chill and relaxed vibe. Both btenders were extremely attentive and cordial. By the time we were ready to split at 8:30 the professional looking billiards players were taking over. Any wimmin showing up later? Not sure, but it is def your quintessential neighborhood hang.

Nice owners though Brown s fan I'm a Steelers Fan watching the Brown/ Steelers game. There were only about 50 fans so they were cattled to only half the room . With the other half of16 people getting 4 TVs with other games . Not the best place to watch the games but great prices n nice owner.

Huge bar area. Actually, the whole place is huge. Pool tables, shuffleboard, etc. Kind of has a quirky, old school, been around 40ish years sort of vibe to it. Bartender was on top of her game, very friendly and very aware of her clientele's drink needs. I went on a Sunday afternoon, and the locals were friendly, the jukebox was chugging out solid tunes, the TV's were showing sports (golf, nascar, soccer, etc) and despite being a relatively older bar it was very clean. No draft beer, but not much wrong with a chilled bottle of suds. I'd go again.

Great people watching and super cheap drinks. Need I say more?

  • Jen C.

Ok so it's not a hipster bar but it is a locals bar. I feel so at home in this bar, Vinny, great guy. The drinks are a decent price and the bartenders are nice. There is a shuffle board table (takes quarters), foose ball table, pool tables, and dart boards. maybe i'll see you around

  • Qui C.

Being a first time customer here on St. Patty's Day I figured it's either I'll hate it or love it. Good thing the people of Patty's made it so that I'll definitely be coming around more often. There was a line, about 10 mins wait but that ensured that when my group got inside, it was NOT crowded and jam packed. The bartender was noticed us right away and we got out green beers soon after walking in. He was nice enough to give me a bead necklace :) Green beer $4 each, good deal. There are pool tables, darts and lots of tables for people to sit. Outside patio for smokers and a taco man that comes around midnight and made tacos from his trunk. Legit.

losangeles.cbslocal.com/… The owners and bartenders at Patrick's did an amazing thing holding this charity event for a good friend and local who suffered in a terrible accident. They raised alot for his family but more important showed that they and people in the community care about other people. Iam proud to call my self a regular at Pat's

This place sucks it's a bad vibe and it's always dead the few times I've been there!!!

Patrick's Irish Pub. 2 Guinness' with Pool Table usage = $35.00 of somewhat pricey investment with a slight bump in the road. All that needs to be said from an old memory.

    (2)
  • Chris B.

This is a kick ass place. Prices are right. Drinks are stiff and... they have plenty of tables, a great jukebox and Golden tee. Bartenders are solid. This is a borderline dive bar. Don't expect too much more than good drinks and a good time and you'll agree. Parking might be an issue, but why in the hell would you be driving to a bar where you are going to put a few back? Drop in this place to see for yourself.

    (5)
  • David Q.

This place is the bomb. Quaint place with a nice bar, pool table and shuffleboards. This is the type of place that is close to a "Cheers" bar. Go where everyone knows your name :-)

    (4)
  • Matt R.

After nearly 3 years of avoiding Patrick's, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back in. First off, the prices were cheaper. Pretty hard to argue with that. Staff was friendly and prompt. They have a wide selection of hard alcohol, as well. Still no draft beer, but as long as the prices are kept low and the service continues to be friendly, no complaints here!

Weird that Jesse D has Patrick's Pub at a four star rating since we love ourselves some Patrick's Pub and are here ALL THE TIME! I'm not really a fan of bars. This could be because I don't really drink or because of my generally negative experiences in bars (see my Baja Sharkeez Hermosa Beach review), but Patrick's is different. Jesse D and I ALWAYS have a good time here. They have an awesome trivia machine, which Jesse D and I RULE. We love a little competition, so be sure to kick some ass and give us a nice healthy score to beat (and look for our names: Dead Pope or Britty). They also have a shuffleboard, which is extremely fun! 75 cents a game and it is always a good time. If you see us there, challenge us to a game! The crowd who spends times at Patrick's is pretty cool too. There are never too many OC bros (like at Sharkeez), douche bags ready to pounce (like at Sharkeez), or trouble-maker-wanna-be-tough-guys (like at Sharkeez). The bartenders are all really friendly too! Quick to remember your name and drink! And... can't forget the sweet jukebox! If you ever hear a whole lotta disco, that's me ruining your life. Awww... come on! You know you like it!

    (5)
  • Chris B.

I don't come here a whole lot...not to the point that I would call myself a regular at all. But I've been here probably 20 times in the last couple years...more than probably any other bar I frequent....and I live 4 blocks from downtown HB so thats saying something. What I will say about Patricks is that EVERY time I've EVER come here I've been greeted by enthusiastic, happy employees and the patrons as well. It's a totally chill environment. Lots of pool tables, darts, games and a jukebox. I was turned on to this place by one of my employees who IS a regular and the people there are like extended family to her. Very cool. AND They now have happy hour. If they had hot food I'd probably be in trouble.

This is the best dive bar in Costa Mesa I have been to. The staff is the nicest I have encountered in a while. I have spent two New Years in a row there now and definitely planning on spending the next there as well. It is in walking distance to my house so I don't have to worry about the small parking lot, which can be annoying if you drove... But hey you shouldn't be drinking and driving anyway. Darts are free, just need to give them your ID and on the weekends a taco truck parks outside. Not to mention they have a menu book you can order and have delivered to the bar. The crowd isn't your typical young hip newport bar crowd, and that's what I like about it.

  • Maluna O.

I just moved around the corner, so Patrick's is awesome!! There's alot of people who live in the surrounding apartments that come here, including me and my roomies! not worrying about who has to drive back=amazing!! we've got our chevroLEGS to get us back! Parking sucks on the weekends, you can't park at the Sprint next door because you'll get towed. I'm not going to tell you where you can park, because I need to park there! :) We've come here at all different days and times of the week. We always have fun no matter what and meet cool and interesting people. Bartenders are awesome! Funny too. 3 pool tables, 1 shuffleboard, 2 dart boards, cig machine, juke box, lil video game thingy, patio...

New fav neighborhood bar for my bf and I. The drinks are reasonable and bartenders are AWESOME - especially Michelle! Highly recommend.

Me and a friend chose this pub randomly because it was the closest pub nearby the foodtruck gathering we were having afterwards. It was a typical Irish pub, nothing too special. They had a few pool tables, a shuffle board, foosball table, and a few arcade games. I guess the only downside of the bar is that they don't have any beers on tap! :[ So we ended up just ordered a few bottles of beer. We could have just bought a few beers at the liquor store i guess, but beer just tastes better at a bar! haha. Our bartender was friendly :]

Came here with coworkers for the first time the other day to celebrate. Totally overlooked this place in the past and man is it a diamond in the rough. Super friendly servers and an ambiance that made you feel welcome. Decently priced beers at around $4-$6 a bottle. Well drinks were around $5 bucks. Not bad. Pool tables, darts and a shuffleboard.

Great little bar with friendly bartenders! Owners are good people as well! During football season, free pizza during the Browns game halftime! Pool tables, shuffleboard, and darts! Worth a stop!

  • Jin L.

    i give this place 5 stars solely for the kick ass bartender and their bombtastic drink saver things that say i've gone to peeee! or something like that heehee. they've got the pool tables, and it looked like some people got pretty serious with the game. drinks are fairly cheap, atmosphere is relaxed. i had a blast (;

Found out that I am SO GOOD at Darts. Oh yaaaa! This is another Costa Mesa staple. Patty's is definitely a spot I love to go when I don't feel like being in a crowded bar where I'm rubbing elbows with every Dick and Harry in the place. I also enjoy shuffleboard...which I happen to be paaareeeetttyy good at. I'm just saying.... ;) Bartenders there are cool cats as well. Patty's Pub. I dig it.

My very first yelp! This bar is hands down one of my favorite bars I love the feeling of everyone knowing your name. Drink Prices are right inline if not cheaper then any other bar around. They have nfl ticket need I say more! Do yourself a favor and come check it out.

i love this little gem. i was there thursday. jukebox, darts, shuffleboard, and pool tables... what else do you want!? and a taco truck rolls up between 11 and 1.

Can't even begin to tell you the memories I've had in this place. I stepped in there on St Patty's day this year just for shits n giggles and I had flash backs. This bar became quickly a home when I came here.. why? Because it was near and the people in there was just too cool. I felt like family in there. Everyone knew each other by their first names- met a lot of people - even people from high school use to go there. Bartenders were friendly accommodate to your needs. If you become a regular - you don't even have to say a word just walk in there and your set! Make sure to bring your ID. Love the vibe when everyone is on the same level! I've met the owners and both are nice and welcoming. 3 Pool tables 2 Dart boards 6 tables 1 Shuffle board 1 Ol skool juke box but when you play sweet caroline .. you got the whole bar singin and bangin on the tables! love it! Out side patio *can't bring your drink out there* new rule apparently too much drama out there oh well. So you'll have to leave your drink inside and hope nobody coincidently picked it up. Free Booze? lol! Anyways, this bar is still a home - I just don't drink a lot these days like I use to way back then. Things change but I can always count this place to go to loosen up and talk about some random things. Thanks P dubs!

Patrick's IS Costa Mesa. Townie bar extraordinaire. If you live here, you basically have to drink here. Bottles only, but 4 buck domestics. REALLY great staff = Vinny, Michelle, Mike, Ripple, ETC. Good place to have parties.

  • Bill S.

went in April '11 weekday about 5:30. NO HAPPY HOUR. NO FOOD. 2 cans of Bud = $9 Tight parking. Besides that, the place was nice and friendly enuff. Caual w/ a pulse, music playing not too loud, pool, darts, good crowd, clean enuff. I'd go again if i'm not expecting happy hour prices.

  • Joe P.

Great neighborhood bar. I usually go there on Sunday's for football. The owners are great people and Michelle (the new bartender) is awesome as well. The only reason they lose 1 star is because they don't have a couple of my favorite imported beers. Outside of that, nice little place to go and have a drink with some friends.

  • Billyjack J.

Patrick's Pub is the closest bar to my house, making it my local spot. I drinks a bit, so I frequent this place three to five times a week, so my star rating is a little biased. It's my home away from home, so I love it. WHY I WENT: When I first moved to Costa Mesa, it was looking like the Goat Hill Tavern was going to be my watering hole of choice, that is until I went there on a Friday night and was unable to maneuver from the smoking patio to the bar without running into 6.5, on the average, annoying bro-type people. I stumbled across Patrick's when buying a new phone from the Sprint store that is right next door, and upon realizing how much closer it was to my apartment than the Goat was, I decided to give it a shot. DRINKS: They have no beer on draft, and only have a selection of about 12 or 15 different types of brews in bottles (save the Guinness, that's in a can of course), but since I tend to be a liquor fan, this isn't really a problem for me. Standard domestics are four to five dollars. Imports from 5 to 6. Liquor selection is standard, and mixed drinks range from five to seven. While I personally have never had a problem with weak or watered down drinks, some of my friends have had complaints. Some of my friends are belligerent drunks though, and it's probably for the best their drinks didn't have as much liquor as mine. Happy Hour all damn day, from Open to 6PM, dollar off everything. Respect. FOOD: No food served, but they don't have a problem if you order a pizza and have it delivered, or make a quick swing by Jack in the Box. Don't try and bring the soft drink you got with your Jumbo Jack in though, that won't fly. Also, a taco truck will come by, usually on the weekends but sometimes on weekdays, around 11:00 or midnight, right on time to cure those drunken hunger pangs. Free pizza on Sundays during football, and hot dogs on Mondays during football. STAFF: They are friendly, but also no-nonsense. If you start causing trouble, you will be cut off. A friend of mine was there on Christmas Day having a few drinks (I wasn't there, I was at a different bar that night...I told you I drinks a bit.) and was unaware that at midnight, a large payment was going to be taken off his card...rent or car insurance or something, and since he tried to close his tab after the money was removed, his card was declined. Being too drunk to notice, the bartender just gave him his card, told him there was nothing to sign and his drinks were on the house that night. I doubt that this is a standard thing to do, after all it was Christmas, spirit of the season and what not, but just to give you an idea that they are really good people running this bar. PATRONS: This bar is nestled in right next to a Super 8 Motel that is about a mile south of the 405 Freeway, so you get the occasional traveler in the bar, but for the most part it's exclusively locals. And the crowd isn't all older or all younger. It's usually a mix that follows the demographics of the area. There are college kids, older men and women and everything in between. There are the regulars, myself included, that don't cause any trouble and are pretty easy to talk to if your in the mood for stories. If you're a single guy, there aren't too many girls that go there without their men. If you're a girl though, there are a number of patrons there that will gladly buy you a drink. I won't, but someone will. Pretty decent number of pool players, and a good amount of sports fans. It gets full on Fridays and Saturdays, but it doesn't get packed. There are a few choke points that might be hard to navigate at midnight on a Friday, but you're not having your face shoved into sweaty armpits as you walk from the patio to the bar. INTERIOR: They have three pool tables. Cues are pretty new and the tables were just re-felted. They host pool league games on Monday's and Thursday's, so getting a table on those nights is hard, but it's always fun to take your shot against a semi-professional player. Full sized shuffleboard table, not like the three quarter sized table they have at the Goat Hill. They have darts and foosball too. I had a birthday party here, and there was enough space for the 10 or 15 people that came along to all sit fairly close together. They have a jukebox, but there is far more classic rock and alternative than pop and hip-hop. Sadly, no one is picking music, nothing is playing. This is a problem in the early evening, but at night, someone is putting money in it, so music is generally always playing. Smoking out front or on the back patio. No drinks allowed on the back patio, it's a liquor license problem, not because the owner hates smokers. Standard Irish Pub decor, bumper stickers and signs on the walls, and an occasional four leaf clover. OVERALL: Dive (In a good way), not over crowded, friendly staff and customers, decent amount of non-drinking entertainment, generally local scene, no draft beers. Standard issue neighborhood bar.

Very relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Super casual with a good array of games and tables. Not pretentious and just the right amount of noise. Surprise of the night: for a bar, the restrooms were nice and clean!

  • Jesse D.

I like this divey little joint. They don't have anything on tap so I would definitely categorize this place as no frills. For me though it has everything I need. The bartenders are friendly and easy to get to know, they always have a bottle of Makers with my name on it, and there is shuffleboard. If you're looking to be wowed by scantily clad whores serving up drinks or 512 mediocre beers on tap this is probably not your kind of place. If you enjoy a friendly neighborhood watering hole with a colorful cast of regulars and good time... maybe I'll see you there sometime!

  • Ninja Girl E.

Patrick's is one of my favorite places to hang out when I don't feel like fighting through a crowd to get a drink. I love to come here with a friend or two so we can talk, play darts or shuffleboard, and just have a good time. It tends to be my go to place if I have to walk out of someplace because it smells like throw up (*cough, cough* Goat Hill) or a sweaty armpit on a busy Friday or Saturday night. Most recently, I went on a Sunday afternoon and discovered 60 year old Edie. Oh, hell yes! I love this woman. She bartends on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays until 7. Outrageously funny! It's worth checking this place out just to see her. She's got a mouth on her that'll put a sailor to shame! Full bar, but no draft beers.

  • Alex G.

This is probably more of a three-star experience, but it gets the extra star because there are so few places like Patrick's in the OC: un-pretentious place to chillax and get your booze on. The bartenders were uber-friendly, taking a genuine interest in how my night was going and cracking wise throughout. There's a great mix of young to middle-aged people here. The requisite pool tables and juke boxes keep things lively. Basically, the major plusses of Patrick's are: very relaxed atmosphere, varied crowd (I won't say diverse as I didn't see anyone with any substantial amount of skin pigment there), and a friendly staff. Plus, I was there on a Friday night and it never got packed, so the bartenders were always available to spray me with more funny juice.

    (4)
  • Vanessa A.

That atmosphere was fine for the most part. What I was annoyed about was the fact I paid $8.00 for a drink and didn't even taste the alcohol in it. I was on hiatus for one month from alcohol and thought It would be strong, but it tasted like a Shirley temple. How sad. Another deterrent... They let people smoke in the door way so the smoke just blows straight back into the bar. I left after one drink and my hair smelled like a cigarette. No fun when you have a long hair.

  • Jessica K.

I love this place! No cover. Always full of interesting people from 21 to 60. We usually don't have to wait to play darts, pool, or foosball. The bartenders are quick and friendly. It's a bit of a drive to or from anywhere, so take a cab.

    (4)
  • Katie V.

Very friendly bartenders, reasonably priced drinks and not overly crowded. I asked the older bartender for a screwdriver and got a screwdriver in a glass of ice. I must say, I have never seen that before...and I live in Vegas. A laugh is always a good way to start my experience somewhere. Drinks were strong, prices were great. I'll be back!

    (4)
  • Kate P.

You'd never know from the outside that this is such a cool bar. It looks like a shabby bar, connected to a hourly-rate motel...but it was pretty cool inside. Lots of space, lots of games and as many young people from the OC you can find. No weirdos..just lots of kids having a drink. I'd definitely stop in here again.

  • Sandy V.

This is great little spot for a quick beer and a game of shuffle board. The bartenders a super friendly. I came here with some friends for my birthday and the bartender was just feeding me drinks all night. I was still standing when closing time rolled around to the bartenders astonishment and to my victory. HA. They have a few pool tables for anyone thats interested. There is a back patio for smokers. Often a locals joint there was a group of 6 people that showed up who seem to be there pretty often. Super relaxed location with CLEAN bathrooms. Dosent look the most exciting from the outside and the place can be kind of empty at times but still a good spot for a quick pit stop.

  • Dan T.

A friend once said "You don't go to Pat's 'cuz you're normal" and I concur. It's a good local watering hole - divey and not too hipsterish (yet). This is a cocktail place really - no tap beers and they charge $7 for a can of Guinness. Darts, shuffleboard, pool, jukebox - all the bases covered for games.

    (4)
  • Rachel D.

Decently priced drinks and purse hooks at the bar and that automatically wins me over.

    (4)
  • Debbie B.

This place is fun and worth a try. There are no windows, so I thought it would be a total dive but it's not. They have some old-school games -like shuffleboard, and the crowd was mixed. Decent place to hang for a chill night.

  • Sami B.

This is one of my favorite bars... It has pool, shuffleboard, and fooseball plus other things. One of the few places where it can be crowded, but you don't feel claustrophobic. There's a jukebox which sucks sometimes if everyone is broke, then it's dead silent. But overall drinks are cheap and there's games to play :) The crowd is very mellow; the occasional really drunk girl asking to take it in the back-door comes around (true story, witnessed the whole conversation myself!), but it's pure entertainment! Seriously if you don't like it here, go back to your strobes and disco ball.

Strong drinks, reasonably priced. Chill, mellow crowd and DARTS. There are just not enough darts bars in OC.

Definitely a place "where everybody knows your name", but they're cool to newcomers as well. It's cool to come here for a bit and play some pool, although the local pool sharks are usually busy playing. But wait your turn and you'll get to play. They also have shuffle board, which is always fun. You'll definitely meet some new people here. I don't know if they have a happy hour but every time I've come here, the beers are the same price, which is around $5.

Pretty small bar, and the drinks aren't particularly fantastic, but the atmosphere delivers with amazing quality. There are lots of doodads to look at. Very Irish, in fact. The bartenders are kind and receptive, and the two pool tables are fun, too. The only problem: too small. Even locals will have problems committing to a bar this small during its rush hours of weekend evenings. Once more, the drinks are a bit expensive; a major minus is the fact that there is absolutely no "happy hour" for reduced prices. Quick sum-up: A drink or two might be good for a little detour on a date, but don't plan on making a full-fledged drunken fool out of yourself with out 70 bucks or so.

Remember in Happy Gilmore where he imagines his "happy place?" Then there's the beautiful girl with beer and the midget in chaps riding the tricycle waving? This is that place for me. It was also my neighborhood bar when I lived in Costa Mesa. Despite its recent surge in popularity and younger, hipster-er crowd, it's still at the top of my list of OC dives. One of the doormen is in a wheelchair. That's badass. He and the other doorman are cool dudes. In fact, eveyone who works here is super friendly and gets to know their regulars. The bartender looks like an AYSO soccer coach I used to have, and I always want to call him "coach." But instead I just order beer. Mmmm, beer. They have SHUFFLEBOARD. Enough said. Once in a while you'll actually find people in here that are professional table shuffleboard players. Or so it seems. The jukebox is full of rock classics that will have you throwing your hands in the air while everyone else looks at you and laughs. Until "Livin' on a Prayer" comes on and they do it too. Rawk! Get a stiff drink and play a round of "Buck Hunter" or a game of darts. Or if you're feeling intense, challenge a mullet to a game of pool. They're always there, with their little pool cue carrying cases. Ready to get crazy and take your money. On St. Patrick's Day they pipe green Pabst from a keg through a cooler and dispense it for next to nothing into blue Solo cups. A nice alternative to That Newport Irish Pub that people line up to get into. Having a beer with my friends and throwing some shuffleboard at Patrick's is my Happy Place.

Patrick's Pub was my local for about a year when I first moved to Costa Mesa. I didn't realize quite how much time I spent there until I left for more than 2 years, returned and was greeted by the bartender, "I haven't seen you in forever!". Am I that much of a boozer? Yikes. Any place that I keep going to enough for the bartenders to remember me must be doing something right. Darts. Pool. Good smoking area. And most importantly, full sized not shitty (ahem Goat Hill) shuffleboard. -1 for no draft beer.

It's been a little while since I've been to Patrick's Pub but I seem to always be trying to round up a crew and head over on a Sunday afternoon for cocktails, pool, and of course the Wisdom of Edie. The last time I was there I started sucking down my Mandarin Sodas as fast as I could so I would have an excuse to leave the pool table and venture to the bar for another Edie joke or her hilarious Russian accented pearls of wisdom. What did I learn from Edie on my last visit: If I say I'm going golfing, I should come home with my balls smelling like I just walked 18 holes in the hot sun and not smelling of the palmolive soap they have at the Motel 6. Add Edie to the cast of characters that frequent Patrick's and you're in for an afternoon or evening of entertainment. Then add in cheap cocktails and pool tables and what more could you ask for???

Best Irish pub in all of SoCal. Mellow, local crowd. If you expect a crazy party you've come to the wrong place... except around St. Patty's Day! Douchebags need not apply. Fun place to play some darts/pool/etc... oh and some very generous drinks are served from the one and only owner/bartender Vinny. Love this pub!

Great place to grab a drink and play a game with friends. Beers a little pricey.

I actually enjoyed this bar I went here one night to meet up with a co-worker with a few of my friends. The place has a lot of space and they have from what I remember an old school cigarette vending machine. They also have 2 dart boards and a few booth tables to sit down in for larger parties. The bartenders seemed friendly but main thing I remember about this place is the plastic bomb cups they use for jager bombs it's freakin hilarious. It's a just small plastic dixie like see through throw away cup that has a little plastic shot glass cup formed in the center of the cup its one of the funniest things I've seen at a bar. Those cups are as trashy as it gets. My friend actually took his home cuz he thought was so amazingly stupid, and still cleans it off and reuses it all the time to look like a jack ass.

My boyfriend and I go to Patrick's all the time and I don't know when we will ever stop going. The bartenders are sooo nice and genuinely care how things are going. Vinny, the owner, is awesome and always really welcoming. If you are having a shitty day, Edie is the bartender to go to because she will crack you up! The people that find her vulgar need to loosen up. It's really rare to find bartenders in OC this nice. Most other places it feels like bartenders forget they get tipped. They have the video touch game (my favorite), a jukebox, pool and shuffle board to keep you entertained throughout the night. Some nights it gets really crowded; it's very hit or miss. The crowd varies from young to old, and there are a ton of regulars. St. Patty's day is meant to be spent at Patrick's

Edie's gone...just not a friendly bar anymore. Sorry, they lost a lot of business, including mine. Will never go back.

I use to live across the street and was here every night. Love the crowd and love the bartenders. If mike still works there he is awsome! Just a little dive bar, cozy place where everyone fits in.

Patrick's is great because it isn't your pretentious trendy bar scene, it is a typical dive bar with a juke box, pool tables, darts, shuffleboard, and stiff drinks. The bartenders are always super cool and the drinks are cheap. Great place to get together with a group of friends and just chill and have some fun and crush some drinks.

What self-respecting pub does not have beer ON TAP?! Pool tables and games good, tv screens small and inadequate, all the beer is bottled, even the Guinness?

Nice little chill place. The shuffleboard is fun. Nothing too upscale but good for a relaxed night out with the friends.

I love Patricks. You dont have to dress to impress, but if you come in looking cute, they wont hold it against you. Its a chill place that people can go to grab a no nonsense drink, and play a game of darts or shuffle board if that tickles your fancy. They have pool tables, and a good jukebox. The bartenders are always nice, and its always an interesting mix of people, everyone from the older gentlemen sitting at the bar, to pool sharks, hipsters, bro's, and average peeps.

almost a full-fledged dive bar, but a half step above. shuffleboard (awesome), darts and a great jukebox. bartenders are very nice people and drinks aren't too expensive. favorite bar in costa mesa by far, and probably in orange county. very hard to get on a game of pool and smokers can't take their drinks outside to the patio which does not make sense to me since the smoking area is fully enclosed.

I went here once with a friend and it seemed pretty laid back, and the fact that they played Oasis on the jukebox made me wanna go back, but when i did it wasn't as entertaining has kind of an older crowd and looks like a place where all the OC alcoholics go to on a daily basis to play pool or have a chat with the local alkie around the corner.

shortly after my 21st birthday, some friends and i would frequent this place to hang out and play some shuffleboard, billiards, and darts. have a few beers and enjoy the atmosphere. i just went back this evening for the first time in a while and upon sitting down the lady bartender (i feel like a jerk for forgetting her name...not edie, melissa??) looks at me and saying "hey brandon! man...it's been a while!" needless to say, it was very welcoming and friendly, awesome feeling. i really like this bar. they have all kinds of sports memorabilia on the walls, in addition to random cheesy bumper-stickers and beer promo stuff. darts are free, shuffleboard is 75cents per game, billiards are a dollar i believe. huge comfortable bar area that wraps around. the covered smoking area is cool, i wish that they'd let you bring drinks outside with you...but oh well. i consider patrick's to be juuuuust outside of bikeride distance from my house (especially for the ride home...hah) but it's absolutely close enough to consider it to be my neighborhood bar.

Patrick's is a great neighborhood bar. Perfect if you live within stumbling distance, otherwise a pass except on St. Patrick's day, it goes off. They have pool tables, darts, and shuffleboard which is pretty cool, and a smoking patio. I lived near there for the past 5 years, and stumbled there on occasion. Kind of a bring your own friends type of location, not a lot of mixing and mingling goin on, prices reasonable, very friendly staff, nice little dive bar.
